Did you know that Alexander Art is about more than wet-on-wet oil painting? One of the other important things we teach is classical drawing, and we are so fortunate to study with an amazing teacher and artist from New York, Andy R. We are excited to share this experience with you. When we learn to draw, we become better artists. Drawing teaches us to see more clearly, understand proportion, recognize structure, and build a strong foundation that helps us in every area of art. No matter what medium you love, stronger drawing skills make you stronger as an artist. That is why we are offering this special two-week event focused on drawing from a live model. This is not a class about finishing a portrait in two weeks. Instead, it is focused on the foundational beginning steps of portrait drawing — the first few hours that matter so much. These early stages lay the groundwork for everything that comes later, and learning to begin well can change how you approach your art. During this event, students will work from the same live model pose over the full two weeks. That gives everyone the opportunity to slow down, observe carefully, and really study what they are seeing. Rather than rushing, students will learn how to approach a portrait with greater accuracy, confidence, and understanding. Another special part of this event is the guidance students will receive along the way. Each night, Andy R will review our drawings and provide feedback, helping students make corrections, strengthen their work, and continue to grow with each session. Normally, this is part of an ongoing monthly class, but for those of you who have wanted a chance to try it, now is your time.
