Creativity has always been the thread running through my life. As an industrial machine designer, drawing and problem-solving were part of my everyday rhythm—shaping form and function with care and intention. But painting… painting is something different.
It’s not about measurements or mechanics anymore—it’s about connection. Something deeper. Something more human.
Oil painting gives me a kind of freedom I don’t find anywhere else. A moment to step into silence, listen inward, and feel part of something vast. To connect with the mighty universe, as Bill would say.
When I place a cloud on the canvas—right where I want it—I feel powerful for just a moment. Not with noise or ego, but with quiet joy. Because I created something that didn’t exist before.
That’s what keeps me coming back. That spark of wonder. That reminder that no matter where we come from, there’s always room for beauty, for expression, and for learning something new.
Many people wonder if they have what it takes to become an artist. At Alexander Art, we believe anyone with a desire to learn to paint, can become the artist they’ve always wanted to be.
