Ron’s journey as an artist began with pencil sketches drawn just for fun. But everything changed in the 1970s when he watched his father paint at the kitchen table. Those quiet moments sparked something deeper. And in the early ’80s, it was The Magic of Oil Painting on PBS that lit a fire. Bill Alexander’s bold, fearless approach—and his famous “Fire in!”—captured Ron’s imagination and never let go.
Determined to master the wet-on-wet technique, Ron spent years studying Bill’s methods until they became second nature. His natural gift for teaching, combined with his deep understanding of the Alexander approach, quickly launched him into a teaching career that’s spanned decades.
Now, more than forty years later, Ron continues to guide hundreds of first-time painters every year. His weekly in-person classes in New Jersey are a local favorite—and his upcoming online workshops will soon make his teaching accessible to students everywhere.
If you’ve ever wanted to complete a full painting in just a few hours—and learn from a master who honors the legacy of Bill Alexander—Ron is ready to show you the way. Join his email list to get updates on upcoming classes and events.

Many people wonder if they have what it takes to become an artist. At Alexander Art, we believe anyone with a desire to learn to paint, can become the artist they’ve always wanted to be.
