Danville, IN/Umatilla, FL
Hello! I’m Julie Bloom. My husband and I are retired and split our time between Danville, Indiana in the Summer and Umatilla, Florida in the Winter, along with our two sweet Cavalier King Charles puppies. We have three grown, married children and five amazing grandchildren, ages 18 to 22, who bring so much joy to our lives.
Back in high school, I majored in art and home economics and started college with plans to study Architectural Design. But, like many people, life led me in a different direction. I discovered computer programming and spent my career in automotive IT—a field that was practical, rewarding, and very different from my creative roots. Art took a back seat while I raised my family, built my career, and focused on the responsibilities of daily life.
But that artistic part of me never disappeared—it waited quietly, patiently, for the right time to return. Now that I’m painting again, I feel like I’ve reconnected with a part of myself I didn’t even realize I was missing. Picking up the brush has changed the way I see the world—colors are richer, light and shadow more captivating, and everyday scenes feel full of wonder. Each painting is both a challenge and a joy, and I’m so grateful to be creating again.
My hope is that others—no matter their age, background, or how long it’s been—can rediscover the artist within themselves too. It’s never too late to return to what lights you up.
Many people wonder if they have what it takes to become an artist. At Alexander Art, we believe anyone with a desire to learn to paint, can become the artist they’ve always wanted to be.
